Car Radio Installation 101

31 12 2007

So…for Christmas (the holiday I celebrate), I got a brand, spanking, new Kenwood KDC-MP235 car radio. My old car radio was like 20 or so years old and I needed a new radio cause the speakers were sounding all scratchy, etc, etc. Anyways, My dad and I installed the radio on Saturday only to see that the radio that already came with the car was not the only problem. Apparently, I had an amplifier too that made the sound horrible. We decided to fidget with the wiring for about an hour or so only to come to the result of just laying out new speaker wires for my stereo. Oh, btw, I had a CD changer in the car, which I accidentally connected to the new radio. Normally, you could make this type of connection, but I realized the devices were not compatible when I went to go take out a CD Magazine from the changer. It all happened in a rush, I opened the changer, saw smoke, smelled a little coming out, took the magazine out, and closed the lid- I know, it’s stupid. I then opened the little door again and saw like flares and stuff and my eyes opened up wide. I just closed the lid and walked to my dad, who was inside the car, and said, “I don’t think the CD Changer and radio are compatible.” He replied, “Why do you say that?” I told him and he freaked out and went to go unplug it. That’s pretty much how the installation went. Haha. Installation started at 3 P.M. and ended at 7 P.M. It could have been finished earlier if there was no “investigation” underway.
