Sometimes, I think about my past- days when I played in the neighborhood, drawing, going to the mall with my brothers, and getting excited about some of the simplest things in life. Currently, my eyes have been more open to the beauty and acceptance of all things- including imperfections. When studying art, I don’t think that I’m the best and that I am the epitome of art. I take into consideration the other work others have done and admire how they were able to capture something simple and turn it into one of the most majestic things to be seen. Even through taking pictures for photography or drawing naked people for figure drawing, I think to myself how beautiful “the natural” is. Society is no longer exposed to such naturalness with the introduction of being “artificial.” Why are many young women so interested in getting tan and why are so many women in general so interested in botax? Why can’t people accept who they are and what they have become? When you think about it, many of these things, such as artificial tanning and botax actually end up producing negative results. Hopefully, society will not decide to give up on everything that is natural. A world of artificialness is almost like a dystopia where everyone is the same. By not accepting art and reality, we further ourselves from the truth and create somewhat of a “Matrix” society.
