Back to School Season

19 08 2008

After a long break, summer begins to wind down and it’s that time of year again- back to school season. School doesn’t start until the 26th of August for me because my first class is on a Tuesday, but it feels like I have already started because of the newspaper. In case most of you didn’t know, I’m a part of ‘The Minaret‘ (University of Tampa’s newspaper). It’s going to be my second year on staff and I’m totally stoked to see what comes my way.

It might be the biggest challenge for me because I’ll be the online editor this year. On top of everything, we are switching to a new online system that seems to come with its hassles. I’m sure after time though, it will be a piece of cake. Maybe NOT, but it’s nice to think so.

Back to School Season is coming into play and the campus that was once a ghost town has awoken with the arrival of both old and new faces. My perspective of school has changed with the experiences I went through last year. I actually know where I am and what I have to do. I’m sure many of you know what I’m talking about and for you incoming freshmen, the only thing I can suggest is to join some organization. You don’t have to be in a fraternity or sorority to be popular or have fun. All you really have to do is be involved and support your school. Their is nothing worse than going to a school with no school spirit or student involvement.

Take these days to think about what you really want to do for your campus. Participating in one thing may bring you the best experiences that life will have to offer. Of course you will never know if you don’t try.
